Dear mentors at Go and Love Foundation,

How are you?

I’m Hu De Mei from the School of Life Sciences at Yunnan Normal University. Thank you very much for caring and loving us poor college students, and for supporting and encouraging our studies!

One week has passed. I recall in the beginning at my home how nervous and concerned I was about this visit to Kunming. Now, I’m surrounded by unfamiliar faces and different accents from far and near, but I no longer feel anxious or worried, because each of us come for the same goal - let more people know our Lord’s love through education. We become like a family, thinking together how to let the children learn more English knowledge, discussing together how to encourage the children to participate more actively in classroom activities.

First of all I’m very grateful to all the mentors at Go and Love Foundation. Thank you for your caring of the poor students and providing us with practical help. The student subsidies help me a great deal, reducing my concerns of the living cost and alleviating the burden to my family. With reduced worries and concerns, I can keep my mind focus on studying.

Under a coincident arrangement, I join the team of Go and Love Foundation-Hong Kong.

Through a self-introduction in a lecture, I was invited by one of the board member of “Go and Love_HK”. Because of an affirmation I’d experienced, I promptly made the verbal acceptance. One time as I walked and carried a “Go & Love” Newsletter; alongside reading the lines of “River of Living Water” written by Betty Chou, a huge drop of water suddenly fell out of nowhere onto these exact words “River of Living Water”

Dear Uncles and Aunts,
How are you?

First of all, I want to thank you for your support and encouragement. My hometown is Gengma. I’m majoring in Japanese at the College of Foreign Languages in Yunnan University of Nationalities. Initially I thought of majoring in tourism management, because I like to travel. I enjoy hearing other people’s stories and share love. But for various reasons, I chose to major in Japanese. I think majoring in a foreign language will also help me to realize my dream.

I’m a student from the border area of Yunnan province. Beginning from elementary school, every student seems to have an unalterable goal—go to college. Of course, to contribute to our homeland and be a pillar of the society is but an after-thought. The real reason is that, in today’s increasingly fierce competition, having a diploma is the key to success and to a better life.

Although we stayed in the leprosy rehabilitation village for just a short morning, what I saw and heard made me feel that this trip was worthwhile.
