Visiting the Leper’s Rehabilitation Center in Yunnan Province, China

Our trip to Yunnan in March was packed with activities: we visited five high schools, held ten mental-health seminars, and reviewed the transcripts of forty high school students, along with their applications for financial assistance. In addition, we visited two co-workers (a husband-and-wife team) in Lingcan with the Tsous from the United States. These two co-workers and their family have been taking care of the lepers at the rehabilitation villages for many years.Read more

A Life-Enriching Journey

This was my second trip with the Go and Love Foundation. Our group of seven people arrived in Jinghong on March 30, 2008. Among us, there was one board member and one staff member of Go and Love, one architect to provide interior drawings for the community center, a professional photographer, and a “first comer,” who has been attracted by Go and Love’s works. Another member and I were there to provide mental health training.Read more

Community Health Education Training in Singapore

After a twenty-hour long flight from San Francisco, with a two-hour stopover at Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan, I finally arrived in Singapore. The purpose of this trip was twofold: (1) to provide the Community Health Education training to church members who are interested in community services and (2) to introduce the works of the Go & Love Foundation.

The smiling faces of the hospitable Mr.Jeffrey Ong and Ms. Jasmine Hui were already waiting at the exit. We left the airport in Mr. Ong’s car and went straight to the training site — the Swatow meeting Hall of Newton Life Church — to prepare for the training course. I was happy to see that the participants could receive the training in such a nice and conducive facility and environment.Read more

Perspective (August, 2008)

From the television, we saw the gut-wrenching pictures of the Sichuan earthquake. In just seconds, the people of Sichuan suffered pain and sorrow beyond description. We, living overseas, sobbed together with the people in mainland China.

As overseas Chinese, not everyone has the financial resources to donate large amounts of money for reconstruction of the infrastructures. But we may use our professional skills to take care of other problems such as caring for the orphans and elderly; providing comfort and psychological counseling for the victims with heavy losses in the disaster; environmental protection; disease prevention, personal hygiene and so on.Read more
