Story of Ten Chickens

After the Spring Festival, I had a chance to accompany teachers from my hometown to visit the village (leprosy rehabilitation village) in the mountain and to visit two friends who are raising chickens there. One of them has 33 hens and chickens. One hen is hatching eggs, so, if the first 13 chicks hatched are not eaten by his cat, there should be more than 40 chickens in total. Fortunately, my friend made a wise decision to send away his hungry cat. The other friend has 9 chicks and 3 hens. I heard he sold the rooster and bought a hen.Read more

Wish From a Little Girl Living In the Mountain (2010 Spring)

Have you ever thought that an elementary school in a poor mountain area can one day bred some outstanding talent!

With the company of local Overseas Chinese Association leaders and township government leaders, we visited Tengmiehe team, Songlin Village, Fengqing Town to inspect the Leprosy rehabilitation work performed by Go and Love Foundation. We also visited Tengmie Elementary School, also known as the Healthy Village Elementary School, a school for fully-recovered leprosy patients and their healthy children.

There are only three grades in the school. After the students finish the third grade, they need to continue their education in a school at the foot of the mountain. Two teachers at Healthy Village Elementary School, Peng Shaogui and Mu zhengping, graduated from Fengqing Normal School. They were originally substitute teachers in the village. In order to meet the students’ need for knowledge, they sought for opportunity of higher education despite of their poor family backgrounds. With help of a retired professor from Tsinghua University, they were able to enter Fengqing Normal School and complete the two-year teacher’s college program.Read more

My Sharing (2010 Spring)

Recently, out of concern, someone asked me whether the financial turmoil had affected the services and ministry development of the Go and Love Foundation. It would be impossible for me to answer, "No” to this question in that the crisis did, in fact, have an impact on the Foundation. But, amazingly, it has not stopped our work, because the one who called us is faithful, and His grace is abundant.

In mid-February, we organized a two-and-half-day camp in eastern China for the poor college students we sponsored. We arranged special seminars, movies, group sharing, and other programs. The students are fast learners. At the end of the camp, one student said that he now realized that he should establish a positive self-image, that he should not underestimate himself just because his family was poor, and that he should view himself objectively. Another student said that she had been depressed, but, through this camp, she learned how to rely on God and overcome her own weakness.Read more

I remember it was at the end of March last year, when the morning in the mountain was still cool, that my three coworkers and I first visited the village. We drove across streams and on a rugged mountain path. The mountain path was extremely difficult to drive on.Read more
